What we will do
This safari is named after a very famous dolphin – Opo. Back in the summer of 1955 he was the life and soul of the harbour. Heading north from Opononi you travel to Pakanae where you look upon Whiria Mountain and hear the stories of the Great Cheiftain, Rahiri, then heading to Mahena Island to hear about Opo the dolphin. This is a great introduction to the Hokianga and it is breath taking as you cruise alongside the sand dunes and its pristine waters.
Perfect for anyone short on time! Kids love this trip commemorating Opo the dolphin – a treasure of Hokianga and Aotearoa.
