What's the Plan
We start our walking tour by meeting for coffee at one of our city’s less known gems. Once we have done our intros, taught you about a traditional Māori greeting and got to know each other, we will wander our city laneways and green spaces, sharing many traditional Māori and Settlers stories and ways of life. We will show you gems hidden in plain sight that may never reach the guidebooks, walk past traditional mahinga kai (food gathering) and historical pā (māori village) sites, while bringing to life the stories of our tipuna (ancestors) and present and how they have been woven into our emerging city.
Local kai (food) tastings, our city’s bi-cultural whakapapa (history), city orchards, vegetable gardens and even central city beehives are just some of the things you may learn and see. With so much to see, our guided walking tour can change to accommodate what the group is keen for on the day.
After around 90 mins we will make our way to one of our city’s delightful eating establishments, and depending on the day of the week we may be able to seek out a cheeky cocktail or local wine or craft beer for those who request it.
