Nau mai, haere mai ki Ōtautahi. Our Amiki Tours whānau want to introduce you to our hometown Ōtautahi | Christchurch. Our lead guide Riwai has an innate ability to find lost tourists and after sharing his idea with his wife Cate and their niece Lou, Amiki Tours was born. Amiki are local connected storytellers, sharing the gems of Ōtautahi| Christchurch,
hidden in plain sight. Our whānau team has a passion for sharing both the modern and old stories of Ōtautahi. Our Tours on Foot will take you on a journey through our central city suburb, deep diving into the rich Māori and European history. Before setting off our guides teach you a traditional indigineous (māori) greeting. As we head off on foot we introduce the māori meaning behind the name of the city of Christchurch (Ōtautahi) and the city river (Ōtākaro). We continue our journey past traditional food gathering (mahinga kai ) and trading sites while bringing to life the stories of the past and present and how they have been woven into our emerging city. From the historical river to the modern laneways, heritage sites, bespoke small enterprises, we will connect you with local people and places through sharing kai, manaakitanga and storytelling.
